since vrtnieuws.net does not offer a news feed and my provider's partnership with them results in serious usability issues, i've decided to provide an atom feed for their latest articles. since the publication date is not listed on the main page, i cannot include that in the feed, so i use the date when the feed was generated. if you're interested in the source of that script, just click here.
update: parsing publication date from url now. time will always be midnight though.

earlier this evening, i had a rather pleasant row with my mother. like most fridays, when a choice as to what will be for dinner emerges as quite the pickle, she proposed a choice between pork gyros and some marinated pork chops, adding that i would be having what's left tomorrow. as i was busy doing some recreational mixing at the time, my initial response was "gee, i don't care, whatever you get your hands on first"—it's worth noting that i can be caught saying that on a weekly basis. so, naturally, not taking a hint, yet well aware of the fact that i couldn't care less than i do about food, she asked again, harvesting a brief "whatever". insert iteration until both parties are well beyond the proverbial last drop. having shifted my sole purpose to getting the unreasonable intruder out of the room, i replied "allright allright, the damn pork". my male sex, combined with the utter disinterest, had obviously prevented me from listening to the two choices earlier on, otherwise i would have known they were both pork—just my luck. insert more iteration and affirmation of the fact that, even if i had given a rodent's backside, i would obviously be having the other dish tomorrow, which i don't mind either, whether it's all pork or not. all of this of course accompanied by reasonably loud minimal techno, since i had no intention of turning it down. i gave in a second time, and went with the pork—i mean, the gyros. but wait, there's more. we hadn't discussed the matter of side dishes. along came another list of options, this time prompting me to go with the first i heard: fresh vegetables. double affirmation was of course necessary. some might say choice is a privilege, but personally, i think all this would have been—and be—a lot easier without it. look at pandas. you don't see them having arguments over what sort of bamboo they're having for dinner, do you? don't ask me how i came up with pandas. all i know is, tgif.
cobol exam after the weekend. the fun never stops.

occasionally, nightly builds will do crazy things upon closing the window—mozilla/5.0 (windows; u; windows nt 5.1; en-us; rv:1.8b) gecko/20050122 firefox/1.0+ (bangbang023) in particular.
more importantly, though, i'm pretty sure i aced today's exam. bigtime.

maple isn't so bad once you get past the mindless and chaotic clutter that certain incompetent teachers turn it into. you know who i'm talking about. i'm not naming names until after i graduate. you're on my list.

incidentally, i made the atom feed generator thingie i used for floofy's feed pluggable, so if anyone's having trouble with their—say, useless blogger-generated—feed, give me a shout and i'll get you a decent one.
