If you want to get all geeky on your friends, try out my Image Encrypter. It can also be used for subliminal messaging. Spooky! Well, not really.

Bug 346131 is definitely one of the more entertaining ones on Bugzilla. Of course, it’s just geek comedy.

I’ve always said laptop cases should be in a dark color—which is why I made the effort to order my MSI S260 abroad just so I could have a non-white one. So, not to gloat or anything, but “even” MacBooks suffer from discoloration. Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean Apple isn’t perfect. I’m sure Mac heads will find a way to blame it on the user, who probably just wasn’t elitist enough to use a Mac. Or maybe he just forgot to get a white iPod to go with his white laptop.

And that wraps up another Day Off. Down Jones didn’t seem to care about buildup or proper mixes very much, but I guess he was adequate as a warmup. I checked out 4T4 for a couple of minutes too, and approved. Annie totally rocked, but there should be repercussions for playing for well less than an hour. Todd Terje had a nice minimal groove going, but then, for some reason, rather abruptly switched to house and even soul, so I took off and enjoyed Jazzanova for a while. By then, it was time for Layo & Bushwacka!, but the start of their set wasn’t really my thing. Luckily, in the mean time, Prins Thomas was playing the house down. A couple of minutes after he kicked the tempo down—it seemed a bit early for that, mind you—I went back downstairs, where Layo had taken over from Bushwacka!—or the other way around, beats me—and I definitely liked his somewhat more energetic style better. Finally, I enjoyed the first half hour of Sasse’s set, which was allright, but I decided to call it a night anyway. All in all, definitely a nice evening.

Lipton Forest Fruit Pyramid Tea tastes pretty damn good. In case you were wondering why the page is in some crazy Moon Man language, that’s because my blog is cooler than yours.
Also, “The Fairly OddParents” is even more entertaining in English than in Dutch. Why can’t they just teach the damn kids English, or better yet, target the cartoons towards older more mature people, like myself?
Yeah, yeah, I’m going to bed. Sheesh.

This sure was an eventful Day Off. After careful consideration, I decided to go to the ICC for the M_nus label night and hence pass on the best of Get Physical Music at Vooruit. I do regret missing Booka Shade, but I didn’t want to miss out on Richie Hawtin, but as it turns out, I did after all. I caught the last half hour of Troy Pierce’s set, which had a nice groove. Then came Magda, who, to my best knowledge, played her best set ever. Matthew Dear then kicked off a pretty nice live gig, but at that time, a got a text message from a friend of mine who was there too, saying that he was feeling sick. Consequently, I stayed with him for the rest of the night, since the guy he was there with had bailed on him. I may not be the most polite or politically correct person in the world, but I do like to believe I have some decency and common sense in me, so that guy’s actions boggle me. Anyway, I’m glad I could help.

Thanks to “Terzake Zomer,” I now know that the past participle of the Dutch verb “opduiken” is not “opgedoken,” but in fact “opgeduikt.” Kudos, that’s all I can say.

Yesterday’s Day Off was substantially better. I thought André Kraml was mainly a producer and would play a rather mediocre set, but as it turns out, he’s a fucking good DJ, who can do some pretty deep minimal shit, and manages to build up a set brilliantly, right into acid house. Gabriel Ananda also did a great job; the man’s got some sweet samples, and finishing, as is to be expected, with a long live take on “Ihre Personliche Glucksmelodie” can only be described as sheer delight. Finally, Ricardo Villalobos provided a serving of his unique grooves, doing a much better job than when I last heard him, at Fuse—I guess he’s back to doing his thing and not giving a flying fuck about what anyone thinks when he intentionally skips a beat or throws in a long break. Also, there was this one guy who thought I had “happy moves.” Yeah, I guess I don’t dance like a bouncer on speed. Anyway, time for “De Canvascrack!”

Since it’s been two weeks since my last post, I thought it was about time for an update. “So, Tim,” you ask, “what’s up?” Well, anonymous yet concerned reader, I’m glad you ask, since now, I get to type a lot! Ah, yes, the joys of sarcasm towards a ficticious individual. Anyway, I have mostly been enjoying the peace and quiet of having the house to myself, as my parents are away on a three-week holiday. Other than kicking back, I have obviously been going places and talking to people, but I hardly ever write about that so now I’m not going to either. I will tell you though that, last Tuesday, for the first time in my life, I was sick from drinking, which came as quite the shock. In addition, because of that, I had a sore throat until yesterday, and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to go to—brace yourself for the smooth transition—the first night of 10 Days Off.
However, I did go, and in hindsight, I must admit I’m not sure I’m glad I did. Granted, seeing Ellen Allien and Apparat live was pretty cool, Paul Kalkbrenner did a pretty good job too, and Sascha Funke’s set was probably the best so far. But Tomas Andersson alone ruined it. Other than playing a boring set—well, live gig—, he managed to kill the audio altogether and have Windows’s hardware detection sound burst through the speakers as he reconnected his controller, and then, at the end of his set, his logoff sound came through Sascha Funke’s set. I didn’t expect much from the guy as he’s pretty much a one-hit-wonder, but come on. Those weren’t the only technical difficulties though—Ada, who did some nice stuff eventually, messed about for a couple of minutes too, and while her set was starting, a guy climbed up on a ladder in the middle of the White Room floor to plug a cable into a projector. I was considering giving Miss Kittin & The Hacker a chance to revive electro tonight, but I’ve decided to stay in and go back Monday; other than a sweet line-up, I’m sure they’ll have learned from their mistakes by then.
