Since it’s been two weeks since my last post, I thought it was about time for an update. “So, Tim,” you ask, “what’s up?” Well, anonymous yet concerned reader, I’m glad you ask, since now, I get to type a lot! Ah, yes, the joys of sarcasm towards a ficticious individual. Anyway, I have mostly been enjoying the peace and quiet of having the house to myself, as my parents are away on a three-week holiday. Other than kicking back, I have obviously been going places and talking to people, but I hardly ever write about that so now I’m not going to either. I will tell you though that, last Tuesday, for the first time in my life, I was sick from drinking, which came as quite the shock. In addition, because of that, I had a sore throat until yesterday, and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to go to—brace yourself for the smooth transition—the first night of 10 Days Off.
However, I did go, and in hindsight, I must admit I’m not sure I’m glad I did. Granted, seeing Ellen Allien and Apparat live was pretty cool, Paul Kalkbrenner did a pretty good job too, and Sascha Funke’s set was probably the best so far. But Tomas Andersson alone ruined it. Other than playing a boring set—well, live gig—, he managed to kill the audio altogether and have Windows’s hardware detection sound burst through the speakers as he reconnected his controller, and then, at the end of his set, his logoff sound came through Sascha Funke’s set. I didn’t expect much from the guy as he’s pretty much a one-hit-wonder, but come on. Those weren’t the only technical difficulties though—Ada, who did some nice stuff eventually, messed about for a couple of minutes too, and while her set was starting, a guy climbed up on a ladder in the middle of the White Room floor to plug a cable into a projector. I was considering giving Miss Kittin & The Hacker a chance to revive electro tonight, but I’ve decided to stay in and go back Monday; other than a sweet line-up, I’m sure they’ll have learned from their mistakes by then.
