I have upgraded my blog to Blogger Beta, and I must say, I’m slightly disappointed. Other than merging my Blogger account with my Google account, which is admittedly useful, I’m only seeing minor UI changes, plus the addition of S/FTP—which, let’s be honest, was long overdue—and a feature which may appeal to some: tags—though Blogger calls them “labels.” Personally, seeing as how I don’t even add titles to my posts, I have no intention of using labels. I’m sure the new features will be useful for some people, but, personally, I think that these days, it’s easier to just set up a blog using WordPress—not that I’m a fan of that. So why do I stick with Blogger? Convenience, really. I can’t be bothered to migrate, and if it ain’t broke …
Update: Publishing this post failed. That’s karma at work right there. Also, the publishing interface still doesn’t use XMLHttpRequest, which is really tedious. Honestly, how is this a beta? It’s barely an update to begin with.
Update 2: Apparently, publishing was taking ages since it felt the need to republish everything and create a page for each individual post, even though I have that feature turned off, since I let my site handle it. God damn it, Blogger.
