Upgrades for the Win
Today, it’s back to Geekville. Two purchases were made:
A Lite-On LH-20A1S DVD burner to replace my Plextor PX-708A. The Plextor cost big bucks, and, despite their excellent reputation, after about 2 years, it started going berserk with pretty much any CD-R disc. No more expensive burners for me.
2 × 512 MB of Kingston DDR2 PC800. I don’t care much about the brand, but well, they had those in stock, so. The PC800 won’t do much good, since I also have 2 × 512 MB of Apacer PC667. The PC667 ones were exactly the same price though, so it couldn’t hurt.
As far as installation went, it was easier than expected. I’d never mounted an optical drive on rails before. With my Chieftec DG-01BD-U case, it’s a breeze, and there’s ample space to mess with cables. Nice.
