Let’s Get Netbookin’
Let me start off by saying there isn’t much wrong with my MSI S260, aside from a little wear and tear. However, these netbooks that have been trickling out have evidently grabbed my attention from the start.

- Some nice netbooks
Now, since the introduction of the Eee PC, there have been a couple of worthy adversaries. Most noteworthily, MSI’s Wind hit the shelves a while ago and there’s been some buzz about the ECS G10IL. I have to admit, though, that none of those really appeal to me:
The Eee PC may be slim, but it’s still too bulky for my taste. A couple of elegance injections couldn’t hurt.
I don’t like the rounded edges on the Wind. Also, it only comes in a 10″ version for now. I can’t call it a netbook unless it has 9″ or less. If the upcoming 9″ one has a smaller case, then maybe.
The G10IL, on the other hand, is a dreamboat. However, rumor has it that, being a 3G device, it will only be sold by cell carriers. This means that, provided that Belgium is lucky enough to get it in the first place, we could be looking at another iPhone debacle.
So much for the bad news. The good news is that, as the netbook market is still emerging, a couple of big players have yet to release their goodies. One of those is Lenovo, who just announced the S9 and S10.

Like with the Wind, I can only hope the S9 will have a smaller case. If it does, this thing looks wonderful—even though information is still pretty scarce at this point. Still, for an SSD-equipped Atom machine, 400 bucks is a reasonable price, especially given Lenovo’s track record.
Seeing as how it won’t be released until September, I don’t suppose it’ll be arriving here anytime soon. Nonetheless, so far, this thing looks like it’s worth the wait, so that’s precisely what I’ll be doing.
